Critical Works In Progress, Monday, October 15

Mark your calendars for the first Critical Works In Progress (CWIP) event for the fall semester to be held on Monday, October 15, from 12:20 to 12:50 p.m. in Mills Hall 322.

MA candidate Terrilynn Cantlon will be presenting: Le Roman de Silence: Le Sophistical Virtue de Marriage, Gender and Writing.

In looking at the 13th Century French romance Le Roman de Silence, Terrilynn “will argue that the gender challenging protagonist is not served by a marriage to the king, a marriage which attempts to overwrite the hegemonic hierarchical patriarchal ‘body’ of the church, society and the state onto the body of Silence.
