Tonight The Place for Writers presents the first Everybody, Everybody Open Mic of the semester at 5:30 p.m. on the Art Museum Lawn. Undergraduate, graduates, everybody, and everybody are welcome! Bring a piece you’d like to read or write something on the spot.
Also, we’ll kick off the event with a performance by featured poet, Mona Webb, a national performance and slam poet, educator, and host of the San Francisco Poetry Slam and Experimental Open Mic. Snacks, beverages, and fun also provided.
Next, mark your calendars for the first Critical Works In Progress (CWIP) event for the fall semester to be held on Monday, October 15, from 12:20 to 12:50 p.m. in Mills Hall 322.
MA candidate Terrilynn Cantlon will be presenting: Le Roman de Silence: Le Sophistical Virtue de Marriage, Gender and Writing.
In looking at the 13th Century French romance Le Roman de Silence, Terrilynn “will argue that the gender challenging protagonist is not served by a marriage to the king, a marriage which attempts to overwrite the hegemonic hierarchical patriarchal ‘body’ of the church, society and the state onto the body of Silence.”
Finally, Litquake SF starts rolling this Friday night, October 5. There are dozens of readings, panels, and get-togethers in SF and the East Bay through October 13, and most are free! Check out the schedule.
Hope to see you!
